Here's the new cohort and what they'll will be working on: 🔍 QLever Federation As research becomes more data-intensive, so does its energy footprint. QLever Federation explores how researchers and institutions can query large datasets directly, without duplicating them locally—cutting redundant storage and energy use. This approach could reduce emissions significantly while laying the groundwork for federated, low-impact data infrastructure.   🌿 impACT entreprise Climate action works best when it’s collective. impACT turns sustainability into a challenge-based experience for entire institutions, promoting behavioral shifts through app-based engagement. The goal: move from individual awareness to organizational change, including governance proposals, embedding climate-friendly habits into daily routines and decision-making processes.   📸 WildCamera WildCamera is co-developing next-generation wildlife monitoring tools with conservationists—designed to be robust, energy-efficient, and tailored to real field conditions. The project helps track biodiversity, while also modeling new standards for sufficiency in environmental hardware and data collection practices.   💡 ZPI – Zero Power Indicator ZPI is a small but meaningful intervention in electronics design. It replaces traditional LED indicators with visual signals that consume no power—challenging assumptions about how devices communicate and how much energy is truly necessary in everyday tech.
Each project tackles specific but connected questions destined to showcase how we can enable a good life while respecting planetary boundaries: - How can we design tech and data systems to reduce climate impact?
- How can institutions be empowered to change, not just individuals?
- What does “sufficiency” mean in a digital world?
